Ms. Román holds a master's degree in sociology from the Central American Master's Program in Sociology at the University of Costa Rica. She is a renowned specialist in public policies for social development at the State of the Nation Program, which operates under the institutional framework of the National Council of Rectors of Costa Rica (CONARE). For several years, she coordinated the State of the Nation Report on sustainable human development in Costa Rica and has been a researcher for the State of the Region Report in Central America. She is the author and co-author of several books and articles in national and international journals. Román has served as a consultant for international organizations, including UNFPA, UNICEF, ILO, and FLACSO, among others.
