He has a Ph. D. in Economics from the University of Berkeley, specializing in economic development, macroeconomics and international finance. He was Minister of Production of Peru between 2014 and 2016, global head of Economic Studies at Barclays Capital and professor at Johns Hopkins University. He has published regularly in academic and financial markets journals.
