Event Information
The thirty-eighth session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will be held online, from 26 to 28 October 2020. By virtue of resolution 734(PLEN.33), adopted at the thirty-third session of the Committee of the Whole of ECLAC, held in 2019, the member States accepted the offer extended by Costa Rica to host the thirty-eighth session of the Commission; however, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have precluded the holding of a face-to-face meeting in Costa Rica. The meeting is thus being held in virtual format, in accordance with the ECLAC calendar of conferences for the period 2019–2020.
The session is the most important intergovernmental conference for steering the work of ECLAC. It serves as a forum for consideration of the most pressing economic and social development issues for the countries of the region, as well as an occasion to review the progress made by the Commission.
