36 session of ECLAC: Interview with Mariana Mazzucato
26 May 2016
In this interview, Mariana Mazzucato, Economy Professor of Economics of Innovation at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of the University of Sussex (United Kingdom), highlights that the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development offers a framework to promote a greener and more inclusive economic growth based on investment, and not on debt. The Italian economist also defends the role of the State in the generation of public policies and in guarding against failures that could be created by the market, as well as in encouraging alliances with the private sector.
This video was recorded at the thirty-sixth session of ECLAC, held in Mexico City from May 23-27, 2016. It takes part of a series of interviews with personalities attending that event, where the regional organization presented the document Horizons 2030: Equality at the center of sustainable development that proposes an analytical framework for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean.
