In May 2008, the Secretary-General of the United Nations appointed Ms. Malcorra Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support, where she was charged with providing logistical, communications, personnel and financial support services to Peacekeeping Operations. In April 2012, she became Chef de Cabinet to the Secretary-General.

Thus, in addition to her long career as an executive, she has invaluable experience in the diplomatic field, including handling negotiations with various countries (Afghanistan, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia and Sudan, among others) and addressing issues relating to decisions adopted by the General Assembly on strategic, financial and budgetary matters involving over US$ 9 billion. Among other specific tasks, Ms. Malcorra coordinated the mission for the elimination of chemical weapons in Syria and the first health mission for Ebola Emergency Response in West Africa.
