Biography

Ambassador Sheila Sealy Monteith is the current Under-Secretary for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica.

With 23 years of experience in the Jamaica Foreign Service, she previously held the post of High Commissioner to Canada. After serving as Director of the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, she was appointed Ambassador to Mexico in 2005, in which role she was also responsible for relations with Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. She served in the Permanent Mission of Jamaica to the United Nations in New York and in Embassy of Jamaica in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

She holds a diploma and a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of the West Indies.
