Biography

Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz is a Cuban economist and diplomat and currently Minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba.

He previously served as his country’s Ambassador to Belgium, the European Union and Luxembourg (2002-2005). He held the post of Deputy Minister (1998-2002) and Director of the Division for Europe and North America (1997-1998) at the Ministry of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation in Havana.

He also served as Economic Counsellor in charge of economic and trade affairs at the Cuban Embassy in Brazil from 1992 to 1997.

He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Havana. He carried out postgraduate studies at the Higher Institute of International Relations in Havana, in the Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Trade in Havana, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Economic Research Centre in Mexico City.
