Thirty-sixth session of ECLAC

Raúl García-Buchaca has been Deputy Executive Secretary for Management and Programme Analysis of ECLAC since 2016.

He joined the United Nations in 1989 following the national competitive recruitment examination, and was first posted to the ECLAC subregional headquarters for the Caribbean in Port of Spain. In 1992, he was assigned to the Programme Planning and Operations Division in Santiago, where he has held various posts of increasing responsibility, as Programme Officer, Evaluation Officer, Chief of the Programme Planning and Evaluation Unit, Deputy Director and Officer-in-Charge of the Division and Director of the Programme Planning and Operations Division (2009-2015).

Mr. García-Buchaca holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Higher Institute of International Relations, Havana.
