Gustavo Meza-Cuadra is a Peruvian diplomat and currently the Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations. Prior to his appointment in 2013, he had been an adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2009, with the rank of Ambassador.

A career diplomat with 30 years’ experience, he has also held various positions in the Peruvian Foreign Ministry, including that of National Director of Sovereignty and Boundaries (2008-2009). He headed the Peruvian delegation in the negotiations for an Association Agreement with the European Union (2007-2008) and was one of the advisers on the law of the sea in the team of Peruvian jurists and experts that presented the country’s case against Chile at the International Court of Justice in The Hague to establish the maritime boundaries between the two countries.

Gustavo Meza-Cuadra holds a master’s degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University (Washington, D.C., United States), a master’s degree in Diplomacy and Administration of International Organizations from the University of Paris XI, a diploma in International Political Affairs from the International Institute of Public Administration (Paris, France) and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Peru.
