Biography

Federica Mogherini is a political scientist from Italy. She is the serving High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and has been a Vice-President of the European Commission since 1 November 2014.

Before taking this office, Ms. Mogherini served as Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy and International Cooperation (2014) and headed the Italian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (2013-2014). She was a Member of the Italian Parliament (2008-2014) and a member of the Italian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (2008-2013).

Ms. Mogherini has been a member of the Italian Institute for International Affairs (IAI) since 2008 and is a fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (2007). She graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Rome in 1994.
